These Jerk Mushrooms are bursting with bold, smoky-sweet flavor inspired by classic Jamaican jerk seasoning. The mushrooms soak up every bit of the spicy marinade featuring Scotch bonnet pepper, allspice, and thyme for a dish that is savory, fiery, and full of island soul. Perfect as a main or side for your holiday table.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb mushrooms (portobello, oyster, or cremini), cleaned and sliced

  • 2 tbsp jerk seasoning (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Juice of 1 lime


Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix jerk seasoning, soy sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, thyme, garlic, and lime juice.

  2. Add mushrooms and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté mushrooms until browned and slightly caramelized, about 8–10 minutes.

  4. Serve warm, garnished with extra thyme or scallions.
